Biggest Loser for Mohave County Library
As Developed by Staff Advisory Committee
December 16, 2009
Purpose: Modeled after the "Biggest Loser" program on NBC television, the "Biggest Loser for Mohave County Library" program has been established for any staff members interested in participating with the following purposes in mind
  • To promote a healthy lifestyle through exercise and diet.
  • To generate cooperation and team spirit among staff through the sharing of knowledge and information, the setting of positive goals, encouraging others to succeed and very mild forms of competition.
Basic Outline of the Program: Any staff members wishing to participate in this program would be expected to do the following over a 3 month period (January - March, 2010):
  • Choose or find a scale that they can use each week for weighing themselves in private.
  • Weigh themselves on the same day of the week, and around the same time of day and self record their weight weekly.
  • Figure the percentage of weight loss (or gain) each week as compared to their weight the previous week.
  • Report their percentage weight loss (or gain) on the MCL Biggest Loser Website each week.
  • Share information about their successes, failures, tips about exercise, diet, meal shopping and planning for any library staff members to read (if they so choose).
What Can Participants Win?
  • The most important prize will be much improved health and potential lifestyle changes that can lead to an overall improved quality of life!
  • The person who loses the largest percentage of body weight over the 3 month period will receive an engraved trophy for their efforts.
  • The library location (Administration Building, Bullhead City Branch, Community Libraries, Kingman Branch and Lake Havasu City Branch) that loses the largest total percentage of weight among their respective participants will receive a super sub sandwich from Subway for the participants to share during a lunch hour of their choice.

I have had a little bit of a late start but i am now starting. I decided to try the P90X workout. I saw a bunch of the infomercials and everyone i know that has stuck with it has gotten great results. I will be working out every morning at 6. I am sure i will be hurting for the first few weeks but i am gonna stick with it. The only reason i am posting this is to make my self feel obligated to stick with it. Wish me Luck -Sam

I am starting a walking program. I walk 1.4 miles every afternoon if I get home early enough to have sunlight since I walk in the desert. I pick up two rocks on the way back in and lift them up and do exercises with them. When I get home I put them in a pile I started and I hope by late spring I will have enough for my garden walkway. I would love to join some kind of cheap gym. Does any one have any ideas.
